SriLankan Airlines announces special offers for Visakhapatnam
Here is good news for tourists planning to visit Colombo between July and Nov, 2017.
SriLankan Airlines, which has already announced direct flights from Vizag to Colombo with effect from July 8, has come out with inaugural special return airfares of around ₹ 13,000.
Announcing this at a media conference here on Thursday, Tours and Travels Association of Andhra chairman O. Naresh Kumar and president K. Vijay Mohan said travellers could have free lunch and dinner and a one-day city tour in Colombo by paying ₹ 1,200 extra and they need not pay Visa charges.
The SriLankan Airlines flight would operate four times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. The flight UL 159 will leave Colombo at 7.10 a.m. and reach Vizag at 9.10 a.m. and in return flight UL 160 departs from vizag at 10.10 a.m. and reach Colombo 12.15 p.m.
The special return airfares (inclusive of all taxes) to Bangkok is ₹14,475, Kuala Lumpur ₹ 14,433 and Singapore ₹14,584, Dubai and Middle East range between ₹ 20,000 and ₹ 23,000, London ₹44,000, Beijing and Shangai ₹ 28,000 and Tokyo ₹ 44,000. The airline operates brand new A 320 and A 321 Neo, which is the first aircraft of its kind operating in South East Asian countries. Bookings can be done from authorised travel agents in the city.
Tourists can also avail a free Transit Visa for a connecting flight, which is between 8 and 24 hours, which will enable passengers to go on a city tour of Colombo.
AI express flights sought
Mr. Naresh Kumar said the TTAA has requested Minister for Panchyat Raj, Rural Development, IT and Communications Nara Lokesh during his recent visit to the city, to take up with the Centre on introduction of Air India express flights from Vizag or Vijayawada to Dubai/Thailand and the latter had agreed to pursue the matter. International cargo operations from Visakhapatnam were expected to take off in three months.
SriLankan Airlines is also considering the option of introducing a cargo flight from Vizag to Colombo. This would be a boon to Brandix as also other export-oriented companies from Vizag, he said.
